They have also created awareness for its use in restaurants and supported the women’s cooperative in its application for geographic indication certification. Furthermore, Alkaç noted that the collaboration with the women’s cooperative continues for European Union Geographic Indication Certification. With these developments, the Mersin Blood Orange has become a well-protected product that sustainably contributes to the economy.
