Turkey’s Bakers Federation President Halil İbrahim Balcı stated that bakers have been struggling due to rising flour and input prices over the past month. He emphasized that an increase in bread prices is inevitable as a result of these hikes and mentioned that discussions with relevant institutions are ongoing. Balcı noted that while this year’s harvest has been abundant, the quality is low. He highlighted that if prices continue to rise, bread costs will become unreasonable. The goal, he said, is to keep bread prices as stable as possible without increasing them. Balcı also indicated that discussions with the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance are continuing, warning that negative impacts on bread prices may arise in the future.
