TMO Sets Hazelnut Purchase Price at 132.60 Lira in Ordu: Latest Update

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has commenced its purchases for the new hazelnut season in Ordu. After setting the prices, TMO completed its preparations at the warehouse in the Gülyalı district and began buying hazelnuts from producers who booked appointments to deliver their products.

TMO officials first took samples to examine the hazelnuts and stored those that met the quality standards. The prices for hazelnuts were set at 132 Turkish Liras per kilogram for Giresun quality, 130 Liras for Levant quality, and 125 Liras for Sivri quality. The first batch of hazelnuts, with a yield of 51%, sold for 132.60 Liras per kilogram.

Arslan Soydan, a board member of the Turkish Union of Agricultural Chambers, noted that TMO would continue its purchases at other locations, assuring producers that they would have a reliable avenue for selling their hazelnuts. He highlighted that with each increase in yield, the price rises by 2.60 Liras, making TMO more profitable compared to market prices.

Soydan also pointed out that there has been damage from the brown marmorated stink bug in coastal areas, which has affected market prices. However, he emphasized that producers could achieve better prices by selling their hazelnuts to TMO. A producer named Ali Demir remarked that TMO’s presence has driven market prices higher, providing producers with better profits.
