The primary mission of the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) is to support producers when the prices of grains and legumes fall, while also preventing significant price increases that could negatively impact consumers. Although last year’s harvest was abundant, this year is expected to yield less than anticipated. To assist producers, TMO has opened over 600 purchasing points and has so far stockpiled 2.5 million tons of products.
The organization maintains licensed warehouses with a total capacity of 4.5 million tons, all of which are currently vacant and ready for use. Last year, TMO stored 13.1 million tons of products and emphasizes that there will be no difficulties in storage this year. The appointment system has also been revamped, providing producers with the opportunity to schedule appointments through both the TMO website and the e-Government portal. Producers can confirm their appointments via SMS and can cancel them if they wish.
Lastly, it is crucial for producers not to sell their products below the prices set by TMO. The TMO determines prices based on quality groups and expects producers to adhere to these prices when selling their products. Otherwise, TMO will be ready to purchase these products.
