The audits conducted at the olive oil factory in Gömeç, Balıkesir, owned by Tarım Kredi Birlik Tarım Ürünleri A.Ş, a subsidiary of Tarım Kredi Cooperatives, revealed fraudulent practices. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry identified that lower quality olive oils were mixed into the natural extra virgin olive oils produced at the factory.
The Tarım Kredi Cooperatives Union released a statement denying any adulteration and announced plans to pursue legal action. The company claimed that the situation detected in a single batch from 2020 was due to storage conditions and extended shelf life, asserting that no different seed oils were present in any products.
It was noted that following objections made in accordance with the legislation, the matter has entered the legal process. Furthermore, it was emphasized that the mentioned company is no longer producing oil and has ceased its commercial activities. Tarım Kredi Oil Company stated that it continues to produce high-quality oils through modernization and growth investments.
