Small-scale agricultural enterprises are aimed at enhancing social and economic welfare, particularly by providing support to producers in high-altitude farming and livestock areas. As part of a rural disadvantaged area development project, portable solar energy systems have been distributed in neighborhoods located above 600 meters.
The distribution ceremony held in Bozyazı was attended by Bozyazı District Governor Tuncay TOPSAKALOĞLU, Anamur District Governor Bilal BOZDEMİR, Mersin Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Erdem KARADAĞ, and protocol representatives. The Solar Energy Systems play a crucial role in meeting basic needs such as tent lighting, product preservation in refrigerators, television viewing, and mobile phone charging in areas without electrical energy. These systems are among the most important necessities for herders living at high altitudes.
In 2023, under the “Improving the Living Standards of Nomads” main activity, a total of 195 benefactors received solar panel support across 8 districts. In 2024, 40 producers engaged in nomadic livestock farming in Gülnar, Aydıncık, Bozyazı, and Anamur districts will continue to receive solar panel support with 80% grant and 20% own contribution.
