The Eastern Mediterranean Basin Water Council Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mersin Deputy Governor Dr. Mehmet Ali ÖZKAN. The meeting took place in the meeting room of the Mediterranean Exporters’ Union (AKİB). Participants included Deputy Director General of Water Management Mahir ÖZCAN, Karaman Deputy Governor Mustafa KARACA, Konya Deputy Governor Yavuz GÜNER, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Erdem KARADAĞ, Dean of Mersin University Faculty of Fisheries Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tahir ALP, Secretary General of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Olcay TOK, General Manager of MESKİ İrfan KORKMAZ, Vice Chairman of Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry Cem BUCUGE, and other institutional managers.
In his opening speech, Deputy Governor Dr. Mehmet Ali ÖZKAN emphasized the importance of the Water Efficiency Campaign and stated that the Eastern Mediterranean Basin Water Council Meeting would be productive. Deputy Director General of Water Management Mahir ÖZCAN highlighted the significance of Provincial Water Councils and Basin Water Councils, expressing that the topics discussed in the Basin Water Council would be elevated to a national level to expedite the resolution process.
Provincial Director Erdem KARADAĞ spoke about the importance of education, providing information on the awareness-raising efforts within the Water Efficiency Campaign. He mentioned that water samples taken from water sources are being analyzed and wished for the Basin Water Council to be beneficial for the nation.
The meeting addressed topics such as water allocation, Water Management, efficient water use, water pollution, treatment, protection of natural water resources, and flood management. After exchanging wishes and hopes, the meeting concluded.
