A presidential decree regarding the customs duties applicable to corn imports until the end of the year has been published in the Official Gazette. The Ministry of Trade has implemented new regulations for corn imports to prevent speculative pricing and ensure supply security. Under this regulation, a tariff quota with a 5% customs duty has been opened for 1 million tons of corn, valid until December 31, 2024, in cases where domestic production is insufficient. For quantities exceeding 1 million tons, the customs duty will continue to be applied at 130%. This regulation aims to protect corn producers from losses and ensure price stability in the food sector. The Ministry of Trade will closely monitor market developments in cooperation with other institutions and will implement new regulations as necessary.
