The Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry continues its pasture improvement and management projects in collaboration with Selçuk University and the Soil, Water and Combatting Desertification Institute. As Konya is a significant province in terms of agriculture and livestock, pasture improvement projects hold great importance. In this context, a total area of 353 decares will be planted with 6,600 Saltworts and 56,700 Steppe Plants in the neighborhoods of Günyüzü, Beylerce, Emirgazi Central, and Hotamış in Karapınar.
With the Mera Improvement and Management Project, a protocol signed between the Provincial Directorate and the Soil, Water, and Combatting Desertification Institute aims to increase the productivity of pastures that have weak forage yields, close the rough feed gap, protect soil, and prevent erosion. These significant efforts are intended to contribute to Konya’s agricultural and livestock potential.
