The time has come for the harvest of salmon fish produced at the Çamlıgöze Dam, located close to the Suşehri district. Şakir Öner Öztürk, the Deputy Governor and General Secretary of the Provincial Special Administration, along with Seyit Yıldız, the Provincial Agriculture Director, and other officials, inspected the harvesting activities on-site.
Provincial Agriculture Director Seyit Yıldız stated that 4,250 tons of trout and Turkish Salmon are raised annually in the Çamlıgöze Dam lake located in Suşehri. He emphasized that significant developments have occurred in recent years, particularly in the production of Turkish Salmon, contributing to the economy of the country by sending these fish to neighboring provinces and other facilities in the Black Sea region. He also highlighted that the Turkish Salmon grown in the dam lake is processed and exported to Japan, Russia, and other European countries.
Deputy Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk pointed out the importance of the feed factory at the facilities, mentioning that the fish are fed using the feed produced there, thus providing significant employment in the region. Currently, there are about 80 employees at the facilities, and fish farming in the area is increasing daily.
The salmon fish farm at Çamlıgöze Dam has begun its first seasonal transfers of fish, which are moved to appropriate tanks as they grow. The farm has an annual production capacity of 4,250 tons of salmon, and the fish are sent to processing facilities in Elazığ for cleaning and packaging before being exported to Russia. The Turkish Salmon has established itself as a brand, surpassing Norwegian salmon and making a significant contribution to the regional economy.
