The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is conducting oral rabies vaccination programs, allocating a total of 3.85 million doses for the autumn period, during which vaccinated bait will be distributed from the air in designated areas. Significant steps are being taken in the fight against rabies in Turkey.
Although rabies is primarily transmitted through dogs, its spread has changed in recent years. As a result, vaccination efforts and wildlife management initiatives are being implemented swiftly.
While rabies is prevalent in Turkey and neighboring countries, vaccination programs have successfully reduced the number of cases. However, further efforts are necessary for the complete eradication of the disease.
The most effective strategy involves vaccinating both owned and stray animals, as well as wild animals, to build immunity against the disease. Therefore, regular vaccination campaigns are conducted each year.
Oral rabies vaccination programs play a crucial role in wildlife health. Through these programs, wild animals gain immunity to the disease, thereby reducing the risk of its spread.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s projects continue to support vaccination efforts across multiple areas, with plans to distribute a total of 3.85 million doses of oral rabies vaccine this autumn.
