Chickpea Harvest Begins on 29,000 Hectares in Kayseri with Hibeli Seeds



Kayseri’s agriculture and livestock sectors hold significant importance, according to the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Bülent Saklav. He noted that the region ranks sixth in Turkey for cultivated land area and has risen to fifth place in production volume. Last year, Kayseri was eighth in chickpea production, achieving a yield of 22,000 tons, with plans to increase production further this year.

Saklav highlighted the rising number of chickpea cultivation areas and farmers, emphasizing high yields and farmer satisfaction. He also mentioned that the government provides invoice support to chickpea producers and continues to enhance assistance every year.

Abdulkadir Güneş, the President of the Provincial Coordination of Agricultural Chambers, announced that they are encouraging the cultivation of alternative crops by reducing fallow land areas. He mentioned that in regions where chickpea farming is prevalent, they offer a 50% subsidy on seed support, ensuring farmers are motivated and supported.

Chickpea producers Hasan Özkök and Kemalettin Danacı expressed their satisfaction with both the yield and quality of their crops. They acknowledged benefiting from state support and voiced their goals for increased production in the coming years.
