Çeşme, Urla, Karaburun, and Seferihisar districts are reported to host over 60,000 mastic trees and mature mastic trees. Producers harvest between 200-250 kilograms of mastic resin annually. Efforts are ongoing to promote the production of geographically marked mastic.
It has been stated that the country’s demand for mastic resin is 10 tons, with a target to increase the harvest amount to around 5-6 tons. The process of scoring the trees before harvest has begun in the garden of the Çeşme Meteorology District Directorate, with harvesting planned to take place in 15 days. AK Party İzmir Deputy Ceyda Bölünmez Çankırı has also expressed support for these efforts.
