In 2006, regulations were adopted stating that 1% of the national income should be allocated to farmers, according to Member of Parliament Gürer. He highlighted that the direct support amount in the 2025 budget proposal, announced by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, is 135 billion lira.

Gürer pointed out that the support amount withheld from farmers this year is 480 billion 400 million lira. He noted that the necessary funding for agriculture, as mandated by law, has not been provided. He reminded that last year, 91 billion lira was given as direct support out of the 411 billion lira, which represents 1% of the national income. He added that the total support withheld from farmers over the past two years amounts to 800 billion lira.

Gürer stated that producers’ debts have increased each year, and farmers have become unable to plant without taking out loans. He emphasized that low purchasing prices are inadequate against the continuously rising Input Costs, arguing that the government has not provided sufficient support for agriculture. Gürer expressed concern that this situation could exacerbate food issues and reiterated the need for local producers to receive the support amounting to 1% of the national income.
