Hasan Osman Sabır stated that price-focused market management is detrimental to all stakeholders. He mentioned that this situation could cause long-term harm to producers and other stakeholders. Sabır expressed that the high stock levels of hazelnuts in Turkey provide an advantage to other producing countries and emphasized that this situation is not sustainable.
He highlighted the need for realistic price expectations, stating that producers must receive fair compensation for their efforts. Otherwise, he warned that supply security could be jeopardized. Sabır noted that increasing exports through balanced and realistic pricing could lead to better market conditions.
He also mentioned that varying price demands from different sectors could disrupt market equilibrium, indicating that excessively high price demands could benefit the interests of other producing countries. Sabır pointed out that foreign exchange rates are fixed and stressed the necessity of increasing sales with realistic market prices. He warned that, without such measures, Turkey may continue to lose market share to its competitors.
